iMessage is one of the few strengths of iOS which Android still hasn't been able to compete with. iMessage let the users of any iOS device send and receive messages containing video, images, and other types of media content and it does it using the stock messaging app. Google is seeking to bring a competitor to iMessage. Google has already launched the RCS messaging in partnership two carriers in USA and Canada.
Telenor is the third carrier through which Google is seeking to expand its RCS messaging to Europe and Asia. Telenor has a rich subscriber base of more than 214 million in Europe and Asia. With this new partnership, Google will be launching RCS messaging in countries including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Hungry, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Telenor subscribers will have access to these advanced messaging features as a standard part of Android.
The RCS messaging will allow users access to features such as high-resolution photo sharing, group chat, read receipts and many more. The users will be able to send RCS message through the messenger app on Android devices. However, we don't know if you will require to download the Google Messenger app to send and receive RCS messages or any stock Android messaging app will do.
There is no timeframe given for when will be these features available in Pakistan but we guess, it will be within this year.comments powered by Disqus
