BlackBerry has always been a favourite brand in the business arena, but since the entry of iPhone and Android over shadowed the BlackBerry. Now with BB10 OS after the launch of the BlackBerry Z10 touchscreen smart-phone BlackBerry is hopefull to get back their past glory. Some BlackBerry enthusiasts prefer the feel of a device packing a QWERTY-keyboard and are still waiting for the Q10’s release date.
The Q10 will be Blackberry’s first smart-phone with a physical keyboard and a touchscreen, running on the BB10 OS. Typically, there's no word on pricing yet, nor is there a specific release date. However, we're expecting the Blackberry Q10 to be priced similarly to the fully touch-screen Blackberry Z10. If you miss your BlackBerry keyboard, but abandoned it for the iPhone or an Android device, the Q10 will lure you back.
BlackBerry Q10 is a well-designed phone with solid physical buttons. On first impressions, the Blackberry Q10 looks and feels sturdy and solid. This is because of its glass cover on the back of the device, which Blackberry claims is much more stronger than plastic, as well as a stainless steel chassis that wraps around the sides of the phone. This not only improves the build quality of the phone but it also gives the Blackberry Q10 a more premium look compared to the BlackBerry's older, mostly plastic models. Blackberry has certainly aimed the Blackberry Q10 at the business user, making it more durable in urban environments.
On the top of the set lies the power switch while the volume keys are placed on the right hand side. The Blackberry Q10 sits quite nicely in the hand. Weighing 139g it's also not too heavy, feeling similar to an iPhone 4. It would have been better if they had reduced the weight a little more, the weight does make it feel more durable, as though it might withstand a few knocks.
The 35-key physical Qwerty keyboard sets the Blackberry Q10 apart from its older brother the Blackberry Z10, giving the phone a touch of the firm's older devices. The keyboard is not only the largest BlackBerry has ever built into a QWERTY smartphone, at three percent bigger than the keyboard on the Bold 9900, but it has been strengthened with horizontal frets that run from edge to edge to make it more robust. These stainless steel frets also ensure that keys stay in place and don't get caught on clothes.
The keys are very well placed and are pretty easy to operate, with no mistakes made. The keyboard is also back-lit, so typing in low light situation should be a breeze. The BlackBerry Q10 comes in black or white color options
The Blackberry Q10 has a square 3.1 inch touch-enabled Super AMOLED display with 720x720 resolution at 330ppi. The screen has a good color reproduction.
The phone uses mainly black backgrounds for apps, to save battery life. As a result, text is clear, even when the phone is held at an angle.
The BB10 OS is smart, efficient and impressive Running the BlackBerry 10 operating system (OS), the Blackberry Q10 seems generally responsive to commands. The BlackBerry Q10 is powered by a 1.5GHz TI OMAP dual-core processor along with 2GB or RAM and 16GB of internal storage expandable to 64GB with a microSD card.
The BlackBerry Q10 comes with a powerful 2,100 mAh battery, so it lasts a long time -- substantially longer than the Z10. Of course, the smaller screen helps conserve power, so don't worry about running out of juice halfway through the day.
On first impression we were quite surprised by the Blackberry Q10. Although it doesn't differ much in overall appearance from Blackberry's older Bold series smartphones, you'll see on closer inspection that the firm has made an effort to set the Blackberry Q10 apart from older models of Qwerty devices by adding some unique features. There's also 4GT LTE support for those willing to pay more for a superfast mobile internet connection.Other specs include an 8-megapixel rear camera, front-facing camera, and NFC.. Lastly,. If you appreciate a well-made keyboard, you'll love the Q10. And if you're a loyalist who does business on your phone, it'll be just what you were waiting for.
